Research

My research examines the contribution of policies to social inequalities in health over the life course. I use large-scale administrative and survey data to understand how policy decisions shape health outcomes across different social groups.

CAnD3 – Consortium on Analytics for Data-Driven Decision Making

I lead the Consortium on Analytics for Data-Driven Decision making (CAnD3), based at McGill University. CAnD3 trains the next generation of researchers to leverage data for evidence-based decision making in population health.

Key Research Themes

  • Health inequalities: Examining how social determinants drive disparities in health outcomes across populations and over the life course.
  • Policy analysis: Assessing the impact of public policies — including health care, social welfare, and labour market policies — on health equity.
  • Life course research: Tracing how early-life exposures and major life transitions shape long-term health trajectories.
  • Population data science: Developing methods for population health analytics using large administrative datasets.

Recognition

My research has been recognized through several international awards from the American Sociological Association, the Population Association of America, the American Public Health Association, and the Fulbright Canada Foundation. It has been covered in major outlets including National Public Radio, the New York Times, and Business Week.
